Boulder District Attorney Drops Pending Marijuana Cases

DA Stan Garnett Drops Small Marijuana Possession Cases In Boulder, Colorado

COLORADO–(ENEWSPF)–Following a similar move in Seattle, the City of Boulder, Colorado is dismissing pending marijuana possession cases of less than one ounce and/or paraphernalia in anticipation of the inevitable end of marijuana prohibition. I truly hope that all cities and towns in Washington and Colorado follow the examples of Boulder and Seattle. Anything short of full dismissals for cases that will not win at trial, which is all of them, is nothing short of a sign of prohibitionists desperately clinging to prohibition in anyway they can.

“Due to amendment 64, 20th JD DA’s office dismisses pending possession of MJ less than an ounce/MJ paraphenalia cases for defendants over 21.” Boulder DA Stan Garnett’s Twitter Page.

“A strong majority of Coloradans made it clear that they do not believe adults should be made criminals for possessing small amounts of marijuana,” Mason Tvert, a proponent of Amendment 64, said in a statement. “Colorado prosecutors can follow the will of the voters by dropping these cases today and announcing they are no longer taking on new ones.”
