Christmas Eve Robbery at Family Video

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police were dispatched to Family Video, 375 Sauk Trail, on December 24 at approximately 11:32 p.m., to investigate a report of an armed robbery. SouthCom advised officers that the alleged offender was wearing a gray ski mask with a tan jacket and was last seen walking eastbound from the store.

Upon arrival at the store, police were advised that a male subject, approximately 5’7" tall, between 35 and 45 years of age, with light skin, had entered the store wearing a puffy tan coat, black pants and a gray facemask. The male subject approached an employee who was vacuuming the floor and told him to go behind the counter. The employee walked behind the counter and was told that the store was being robbed. The alleged offender was holding a handgun, according to police.

The subject then allegedly ordered two employees to empty the money from the cash register drawers, further telling employees, "Don’t try to push any buttons, let’s make this a good holiday." The employees put approximately $600 into a dark blue backpack brought into the store by the suspect.

The male subject then exited the store after advising the employees not to move for at least five minutes. No other customers were inside the store during the robbery, according to police.

Police gathered evidence from the scene and continue to investigate.
