CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–July 27, 2011 —Cook County Sheriff’s Police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate items stolen during a charity golf tournament in south suburban Olympia Fields.
On Monday, July 25, golf pro Richard “Ricky” Barnes was the guest of honor at the Middle Market Open National Kidney Foundation golf tournament at Olympia Fields Country Club, on the 2800 block of Country Club Drive, when a number of items were stolen from his rental car. Around 4 p.m., Barnes placed his golf bag in the trunk of his car and locked it. When he returned approximately 25 minutes later and opened the trunk, the golf bag and several other items were missing. Inside the bag were 14 clubs valued at $3,500, the victim’s wallet, and a Chrome Breitling Bentley watch worth approximately $8,000.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police detectives arrived on the scene and canvassed the area. Investigators conducted interviews and collected forensic evidence from the scene. Detectives are also reviewing video surveillance. An immediate alert was sent to law enforcement agencies across the area to lookout for the stolen items. In addition a Critical Reach Bulletin was sent to all law enforcement agencies in Illinois.
