Home Invasion on Somonauk Drive Leaves Victim in Tears

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Police responded to a home invasion in the 300 block of Somonauk Drive on January 10 at approximately 1 AM. When police arrived, one of the victims was crying and visibly shaking.

The victim said she heard banging coming from the front of the house followed by the sound of glass breaking. She ran to the kitchen and could hear someone inside the utility room attempting to pull open the door that enters into the kitchen. She grabbed the door to prevent the unknown suspect from entering further into the house, but the suspect managed to pull the door open and make entry into the kitchen.

The suspect was armed. Police described him as a black male, between 5’11" and 6’1", thin build, dark complexion, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black knit hat with short braids hanging from under the hat. The man also had a black bandanna tied around his face, exposing only his eyes, according to police.

The victim said the man pointed a small black gun at her and said, "Give me all the money you have in the house or I’m going to kill you."

The suspect left with approximately $3000 cash, part of which, according to the victim, was to go toward rent.

Police gathered witness statements from the neighborhood, gathered evidence from the scene, and continue to investigate.
