Denver, Colorado–(ENEWSPF)– Alan Houston Johnson, age 44, of Davidson, North Carolina, was found guilty this afternoon of interference with a flight crew and abusive sexual contact on an aircraft, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and FBI Special Agent in Charge James Davis announced. The guilty verdict came following a four-day jury trial before U.S. District Court Judge Philip A. Brimmer. Johnson is currently in federal custody, and is being held without bond. He was first charged by criminal complaint on February 17, 2010. Johnson was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on February 23, 2010.
According to the indictment, as well as facts presented to the jury during trial, on February 16, 2010, Alan Johnson was a passenger on United Airlines Flight 245, traveling from Chicago, Illinois to Denver, Colorado. During that flight, Johnson interfered with a member of the flight crew, lessening her ability to perform her official duties. Specifically, Johnson assaulted a flight attendant by grabbing her buttocks, and intimidated her by throwing a glass of water at her.
During that same flight, Johnson assaulted two other women, one of whom was another flight attendant. He also knowingly and intentionally engaged in sexual contact with another woman without her consent aboard the flight.
Johnson faces not more than 20 years’ imprisonment, and up to a $250,000 fine, for one count of interference with a flight crew by assault and intimidation. He also faces not more than two years’ imprisonment, and up to a $250,000 fine, for each of the three counts of abusive sexual contact on an aircraft.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with support from the Denver Police Department.
Johnson was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James Allison, who is Chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division.
