Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

Driving While License Was Suspended

Justin K. Hollivay, 23, 5319 Bentgrass Ave., Richton Park, was arrested on January 31 and issued state citations charging driving while license was suspended and no front registration plate when an officer parked in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Western Avenue observed a vehicle traveling south on Western Avenue that had no front registration plate, according to police.

Hollivay was also given a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis.

After the officer curbed the vehicle Hollivay was driving, the officer requested Hollivay’s driver’s license and a valid insurance card. The officer conducted a database inquiry and learned that Hollivay’s driving privileges were currently suspended, according to police. Upon conducting a search of Hollivay’s person, the officer recovered a small Ziploc bag containing a green leafy substance.

Hollivay was subsequently transported to the Park Forest Police Department. His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded per local ordinance due to driving while license was suspended and illegal drugs in a motor vehicle, according to police.

Felony Aggravated Driving While License Was Revoked

Kenneth W. Elem Jr., 28, 55 N. Arbor Trail #202, Park Forest, was arrested on February 1 and charged with two felony counts of aggravated driving while license was revoked. Elem was also charged with no front registration plate, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a vehicle with suspended registration, and obstructing identification.

According to the report, an officer was in a squad car facing north in the left turn lane in the 2500 block of Western Avenue when the officer observed a vehicle traveling north on Western Avenue from Algonquin Street, approaching the rear of the officers squad. The officer noticed that the vehicle did not have a front-mounted registration plate, according to police.

The officer initiated a traffic stop, curbing the vehicle in the parking lot of the Citgo gas station, 2035 Western Ave.

The officer learned from Elem that he did not have a driver’s license on his person and Elem further related that he did not have a wallet at all, according to police. When asked his name and date of birth, Elem allegedly provided a false name, according to police. After being placed in handcuffs, Elem allegedly told the officer that his license was revoked for a previous conviction of driving while under the influence.

Domestic Battery

Philip C. Walker, 58, 350 Juniper St., Park Forest, was arrested on February 1 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Juniper Street regarding a report of a domestic disturbance.

Driving While License Was Suspended, No Valid Insurance

Stanley R. Williams, 22, 14345 Millard Ave., Midlothian, was arrested on February 1 and charged with driving while driver’s license was suspended, speeding, driving with no valid vehicle insurance. Williams was also issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis.

An officer was parked at Lincoln Highway and Indiana Street when he observed the vehicle Williams was driving traveling eastbound on Lincoln Highway, approaching Indiana Street, at 57 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone, according to police.

While searching the vehicle, the officer located a plastic bag containing a green, plant like material, suspect cannabis. Williams later allegedly stated that the bag of cannabis belong to him, according to police. The vehicle Williams was driving was towed from the scene and impounded per local ordinance.

Violation of an Order of Protection

Officers responded to the Park Forest Police Department on February 3 at approximately 6:13 PM to investigate a report of a violation of an order of protection. Police have suspect information and are investigating.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Eugean J. Turner, 37, 4503 Keenehand Ct., Richton Park, was arrested on February 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and improper parking/standing on the roadway.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Western Avenue and Sauk Trail to check the well-being of a motorist. Dispatch advised officers that a vehicle was in the left turn lane in the northbound lanes of Western Avenue and a male subject was slumped over the steering wheel.

Upon arrival, the complainant informed officers that he was traveling northbound on Western Avenue near Sauk Trail and, while approaching the intersection, he observed a vehicle in front of him that was stopped, and did not move while the light was green.

When police approached the vehicle Turner was driving, an officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Turner’s person and Turner’s speech was slurred, according to police. The officer also observed that Turner’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

John C. Beringer, 51, 125 LaRue St., Park Forest, was arrested on February 4 and issued citations charging driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a BAC over .08, driving too fast for conditions, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

An officer was dispatched to the area of 26th Street and Allegheny Street at 2:36 PM to investigate a report of a single vehicle accident with a car in a ditch. When the officer arrived, he observed the vehicle Beringer was driving in the ditch off of 26th Street. The entire front end of the vehicle was in the ditch, according to police. When the officer approached Beringer, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Beringer as he spoke.

Criminal Damage to Property

Jordan L. Zehme, 21, 22159 Shirley Ave., Sauk Village, was arrested on February 5 and charged with misdemeanor criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Blackhawk Drive in reference to a report of criminal damage to property. While en route, dispatch advised that a caller reported that Zehme allegedly damaged her vehicle and was fleeing on foot. The caller provided a description. Police observed that the driver’s side mirror of the vehicle in question had been pulled from its bracket, according to the report.

Police found Zehme walking in the 300 block of Blackhawk Drive.
