Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

While investigating a case brought to the attention of police by a special agent who is a member of an outside crime agency, a Park Forest police officer made contact with a suspect by phone on March 4. The subject told the officer, who lives in Park Forest, "I saw you the other day." The officer then asked the subject where he had seen him and the subject responded, "In Park Forest," and then named the street on which the officer lives. Police say the subject made personal remarks to the officer. The officer then hung up. Police are investigating.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Lakewood Boulevard on March 11.

Derrick Misters, 20, 224 Indianwood St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 11 and charged with resisting a peace officer and refusing to aid an officer when police were at Rich East High School due to several fights that were taking place in the parking lot after a high school basketball game.

Ciara S. Norals, 22, 23031 Lakeshore Dr., Richton Park, was arrested on March 11 and charged with one count of disorderly conduct, one count of criminal trespass to state land, and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance when an officer on patrol at 300 Sauk Trail, Rich East High School, was advised by a Rich East High School Resource Officer that Norals had been involved in an altercation with another female subject and was refusing to leave the school grounds, according to police.

Sandra Z. Jones, 23, 412 Hamlin St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 13 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis and additionally charged with failure to signal when required and driving while license was suspended. An officer on patrol observed the vehicle Jones was driving make a right hand turn from Illinois Street onto Indiana Street without signaling the turn, according to police.

A silver 2002 Ford Explorer, Illinois license 40407PV, was reported stolen from the 3300 block of Western Avenue on March 13.

An officer patrolling in the 300 block of Oswego Street located a central air-conditioning unit on the side of a residence which was damaged with several parts removed and lying on the ground. According to police, it appeared that copper tubing inside the unit had been cut and removed. Police are investigating.

A vehicle parked in the 400 block of Neosho Street was reported vandalized with white spray paint on March 14.

Gordon C. Funderburg, 27, 421 W. 98th St., Chicago, was arrested on March 15 and charged with battery and resisting a peace officer when police were dispatched to the 23400 block of South Western Avenue in reference to a complaint of subjects fighting.

Devlon T. Poteete, 29, 3444 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on March 15 and charged with operating a motor vehicle with expired registration, no valid insurance, driving while license was revoked, and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when an officer patrolling in the area of 26th Street and Western Avenue observed the vehicle Poteete was driving make a right hand turn from westbound 26th Street into the parking lot of 2599 Western Avenue, stop near the front of the vacant building, and proceed to drive northbound on Western Avenue, according to police.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Dogwood Street on March 16.

An officer patrolling in the first block of East Rocket Circle on March 16 observed red graffiti on a wooden privacy fence that borders a property in that block.

A resident told police on March 17 that she had filed her taxes with a tax-preparation service and was advised that her refund would post to her account on February 23, 2015. The rebate payment did not post to her account and the person who prepared the taxes advised that he had inadvertently entered the wrong account number. After multiple conversations via text message regarding the status of the rebate payment, the resident discovered from the IRS that the rebate payment had posted on February 20, 2015, to a recently opened account in her name at Republic Bank. The resident related that she had never opened an account at Republic Bank. The resident advised that she wishes to pursue criminal charges against the person who prepared the account. The case was turned over to the investigations division.

A garage window of a residence in the 200 block of Rich Road was reported shattered on March 17.

Larry G. Doston, 41, 48 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 17 and charged with driving while license was suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of registration, and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when an officer patrolling on Nashua Street at Indianwood Boulevard observed that the front registration plate of the vehicle Dotson was driving was hanging vertically from the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle, Tolondia Griffin-Thompson, 33, 48 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 3400 block of Western Avenue on March 17.

Mariah M. Saunders, 19, 20 Apache St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 17 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer observed a vehicle stopped facing West in front of a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street. The officer observed that the vehicle did not have a rear registration plate light and further discovered that the temporary plate on the vehicle was registered to a different vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was issued citations charging no valid registration and no rear registration plate light.

A garage door window pane of a residence in the 100 block of Navajo Street was reported shattered on March 18.

A black and silver Mongoose bicycle valued at $35 was reported stolen from outside a residence in the 100 block of Shabbona Drive on March 19.

A window of a residence in the 100 block of Algonquin Street was reported shattered on March 19.

A resident told police that he received 2 text message alerts advising him that his debit card made to transactions in Vernon Hills on March 20. The resident advised police that he did not make the transactions online or in person. Police are investigating.

Matthew W. Goodwin, 32, 605 Sullivan Lane, University Park, was arrested on March 22 and charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, disobeying a stop sign, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver when an officer conducting a DUI Roadside Safety Checkpoint Detail at Western Avenue and Sycamore Street observed the vehicle Goodwin was driving continue through the roadside safety checkpoint’s stop sign without stopping, according to police.
