Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

A juvenile was issued a citation charging truancy when an officer was contacted by Principal Mark Kramer regarding a student at Rich East High School who was not in school on December 3.

A wooden door jam of a residence in the 100 block of Wilson Street was reported broken on December 3, apparently kicked in, according to police. Nothing was reported damaged or missing from the residence, police said.

A Tom-Tom brand GPS system valued at $185 and a cellular phone valued at $20 were reported stolen from two vehicles parked in the 300 block of Blackhawk Drive on December 3. Both vehicles had been left unsecured, according to police.

A black Garman GPS valued at $450 and a tray containing a Bluetooth charging cord valued at $40 were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive on December 3. Police said the vehicle had been left unsecured through the night.

A juvenile was arrested on December 5 and given a municipal ticket charging a curfew violation when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Sauk Trail in reference to a report of a juvenile who was told to be home by midnight but did not return.

A juvenile was arrested on December 6 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon when an officer working as Police Liaison Officer at Rich East High School observed a suspicious object showing from a pants pocket of a student. The officer recognized that the object was a knife click, and, after stopping the student for a protective patdown, discovered that a student was carrying a folding locking blade pocket knife.

A hole was reported cut in the wall of a business in the first block of South Orchard Drive on December 7. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to police.

A 42-inch LCD television valued at $1200, a purse valued at $30, a pornographic DVD movie valued at $20, a 32-inch Samsung LCD television valued at $500, and approximately $2300 in United States currency were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Homan Avenue on December 7. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

A green Rheem brand 50,000 BTU furnace valued at $2600, a green Rheem 2-ton air conditioner valued at $2600, and eight Crystal brand glass windows valued at $1410.22, were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Sauk Trail on December 8.

Two packages that had been delivered by UPS were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Blackhawk Drive on December 8.

Melvin R. Brown, 28, 589 Tennessee St., Gary, IN, was arrested on December 8 and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and had expired registration when an officer traveling southbound on Western Avenue approaching Beacon Boulevard observed that the vehicle Brown was driving had an expired registration. A passenger in the vehicle, Latoya T. Carroll, 26, 589 Tennessee St., Gary, IN, was also arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and later turned over to the Sauk Village Police Department in reference to an outstanding warrant.

A black Vizio flat-screen television valued at $1000 was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Early Street on December 8.

Police say approximately 200 DVDs valued at $4000, a silver Hamilton watch valued at $1000, a digital camera valued at $400, two pair of golf shoes valued at $150 each and a bottle of rum valued at $40 were stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Mohawk Drive on December 9.

Police say a resident at Thorncreek Townhomes told them on December 10 she went to a currency exchange in Chicago Heights on October 6 and purchased a money order for the amount of $975 to pay for her monthly rent. The money order was then placed in an envelope and put into the drop box at Thorncreek Townhomes. The resident said she received a phone call from the manager of the apartment complex advising her that they had not received her monthly rent for October and that she still owed the money. When she checked with the Currency Exchange, she discovered that an unknown person had scratched out Thorncreek Townhomes on the money order and changed the money order to pay to the name of a woman. Police continue to investigate.

A wallet and keys were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Hemlock Street on December 10.

A juvenile was arrested and issued a municipal citation charging disorderly conduct on December 12 after a basketball game at Rich East High School.

A 42-inch Vizio LCD television valued at $1200 and a George Foreman grill valued at $60 were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Waldman Drive on December 12.

A window of a door of a residence in the 300 block of Niagara Street was reported shattered on December 11.
