Park Forest Police Reports for July 13, 2009


Thomas E. Alsup, 27, 2815 W. 172nd St., Hazel Crest, was arrested on July 1 and charged with harassment by telephone when police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department to investigate a report of harassment by telephone.

Eddie Williams Jr., 19, 14 Apache St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 2 and charged with possession of cannabis and issued two traffic tickets charging disobeying a stop sign when an officer observed the vehicle Williams was driving traveling northbound on South Orchard Drive allegedly disobeyed the stop sign at the intersection of South Orchard Drive and Indianwood Boulevard.

Police were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Main Street on July 3 to investigate a report of fraud. According to the complainant, an employee at the business allegedly gave herself a five dollar per hour pay raise without the company’s authority. She also allegedly gave her husband a $.50 per hour pay raise without the company’s permission. The complainant further advised police that the same employee and another employee allegedly overcharged Medicare. According to police, the total amount of money lost is believed to be over $10,000. The incident has been turned over to the Detective Division for further investigation.

Chris James Blackwell, 33, 2930 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on July 4 and charged with battery and criminal trespass to residence when police were dispatched to the first block of Ash Street in reference to a report of a fight in progress. Tashander E. Gines, 32, 3564 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested in connection with the same incident and charged with two counts of battery and criminal trespass to residence.

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of Indiana Street on July 5 at 7:47 a.m.. Officer Elliot located the stolen vehicle at 9:40 a.m. in the 200 block of Hickory Street. The vehicle was unoccupied. The keys to the vehicle had been left in the center console of the car.

The rear passenger side tire and rim were removed from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of North Arbor Trail on July 5.

A vehicle that had been reported stolen was found by Officer Elliot parked in the 100 block of Ash Street on July 5.

A rock was reported thrown through a window of a house in the 200 block of Mantua Street on July 5.

A 32-inch Insignia DVD/HDTV combo valued at $700, and a six week old pit bull puppy, brown with a white tail tip and white forehead, valued at $500, were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Shabbona Drive on July 5. After an extensive investigation, police conducted a suspicious circumstance call at a residence in the 23000 block of Central Park Avenue, Richton Park. A resident at the house, Antonio Lomax, 58, 23111 Central Park, Richton Park, was informed that an anonymous witness observed a subject carrying a flatscreen television into his detached garage. Lomax related that there should not be a television in his garage, but granted officers permission to search the garage. Police located the stolen HDTV/DVD combo. On July 6, Officer Hoskins contacted the Will County Felony Review Unit and spoke with Assistant States Attorney Casson, who approved one charge of felony theft/possession of stolen property against Lomax. Lomax was charged with felony theft/possession of stolen property.

Reginald C. Lark, 37, 76 Ash St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 6 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of domestic battery.

A small black charcoal grill valued at $15 and a green plastic lawn chair valued at $5 were reported stolen from the 100 block of N. Arbor Trails on July 6.

The front window of a residence in the 200 block of Indiana Street was reported broken by a rock on July 7.

Dineitha F. Jones, 27, 138 Birch St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 7 and charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage in the driver’s compartment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor when police were dispatched to the area of Lester Road and court H-7 to investigate a report of a suspicious auto in the area. Marquette L. Graham, 18, 138 Birch St., Park Forest, was arrested in connection with the same incident and charged with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage. Romero R. Graham, 19, 138 Birch St., Park Forest, was also arrested and charged with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage and underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

A purple Trek mountain bike was reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Westwood Drive on July 7.

Police were dispatched to Algonquin School on July 7 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. Police discovered graffiti on a dumpster, a fence, and on the roadway near the intersection of Algonquin and Allegheny Streets.

A blue boy’s Mongoose bicycle with four black pegs valued at $150 was reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Sauk Trail on July 8.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Somonauk Court on July 8 to investigate a report of domestic battery. There were no arrests.

A gold ring with a ruby stone valued at $500, an emerald gold ring valued at $750, a Topaz colored diamond ring valued at $600, and a garnet gold ring valued at $500, were reported stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Lakewood Boulevard on July 8.

Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Indiana Street on July 9 at 12:40 a.m. to investigate a complaint of shots fired at a residence. Witnesses reported that unknown suspects drove by the house and started shooting. Five shots were fired, according to witnesses. Police recovered evidence from the scene and continue to investigate.

A black Mongoose bicycle with red tiger stripes valued at $125 was reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Allegheny Street on July 9.

A Samsung 26-inch LCD 720p HDTV valued at $450, a Dell laptop computer valued at $300, a Hitachi DVD recorder/camcorder valued at $300, and a Nintendo Wii game system with controllers valued at $200 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead Street on July 9.

An HP laptop computer, an IBM laptop computer, a DirecTV satellite receiver, and an Xbox 360 game system were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Farragut Street on July 9.

Jonathan C. Szurgot, 26, 93 Norwood Blvd., Park Forest, was arrested on July 10 and charged with domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of domestic battery.
