“While an arrest alone is not the ultimate step in resolving this incident,” police continued, “we hope that this arrest begins to bring closure and healing to the victim and community.”

The “intensive investigation” spanned over seven weeks, the statement said.

The reported sexual of assault occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. in the area of Wildwood Drive and Wilshire Street, according to police.

“And as always, we remind the public that our judicial system affords the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law,” the statement concludes.
