Police Say Woman Told Teen To Lie To Cover Her Reckless Driving

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police say a resident in the 400 block of Shabbona drive reported that an unknown vehicle drove into her driveway in the early morning hours of August 21. She said the vehicle continued through her backyard, causing damage to the grass and flowers. The resident said the vehicle then struck a fence belonging to a neighbor.

Police earlier that morning had discovered Kili A. Jones, 22 , 325 Waldman Dr., Park Forest, sitting in her vehicle at 5:41 a.m. at the intersection of Sauk Trail and Shabbona Drive. Police say Jones told them the vehicle had broken down and they gave her a ride home. She was told to move her vehicle by 7 a.m. or the car would be towed because it was illegally parked.

According to police, the vehicle was still at the intersection at 7 a.m. and police noticed there were scratches on the rear bumper and the front bumper had flower buds all over it. Police say the flower buds matched the flowers that were damaged at the residence on Shabbona Drive. The vehicle was towed.

Police say that when Jones responded to the police station regarding her vehicle, she allegedly said that she was not the one driving the vehicle, but that a 15-year-old friend of hers was the driver. Police say Jones told them that the juvenile was responsible for driving on the grass and hitting the fence.

When police asked the juvenile if Jones told her to lie about driving the vehicle and striking the fence, police say the juvenile responded, "Yeah,” and that Jones pleaded with her to lie to the police.

Kili A. Jones was arrested on August 21 and charged with obstructing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Shabbona Drive regarding a report of criminal damage to property.
