Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), was joined today by Tim McCarthy, Chief of the Orland Park, Illinois Police Department, in asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for the October 7, 2010 armed robbery of the Chase Bank branch, located at 13211 South LaGrange Road in Orland Park.
The robbery took place at approximately 4:00 p.m., when a lone robber entered the bank and approached the branch manager. The robber, who was armed with a hammer, ordered the manager to take him behind the teller counter, where he forced bank employees to open the vault. He then ordered bank employees to fill a backpack that he brought with him with cash, asking for larger denomination bills first. Before fleeing, the robber ordered bank employees to remain in the vault area and not to summon police; threatening them with harm should his instructions not be followed.
Witnesses saw the robber flee the bank, entering the passenger side of a waiting vehicle that was driven by an accomplice. The vehicle was described as an older model, Chevrolet Cavalier Z 24, black in color, with no license plates. It was last seen going east out of the bank parking lot.
The robber is described as a white male, 20 – 25 years of age, 6’ – 6’3″ tall, medium build. He was wearing a light-colored baseball type cap with what witnesses described as an orange wig. The driver of the getaway vehicle was described as a white male, 30 – 35 years of age, heavy build, with thinning black hair and a scruffy beard.
