Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—The Park Forest Richton Park Neighborhood Network (PRNN) is inviting local families to apply for the second cohort of its Family Stability Assistance Program, which offers much-needed financial assistance. This initiative helps residents strengthen their financial footing while learning valuable money management skills.
The program provides up to $1,000 in short-term financial assistance for eligible participants living in Park Forest or Richton Park. Funds may be used for rental assistance, home or auto repairs, appliance purchases, child care services, or job training expenses.
“The goal is to not only provide financial relief, but also to help families build long-term stability,” said Cherise Williams, PRNN Network Organizer. “We know that one-time challenges can throw a household off balance. We want to equip our residents with the knowledge and resources to stay on track.”
Financial Assistance Program Includes Mandatory Financial Literacy Workshop
As part of the program, participants must attend a mandatory financial literacy workshop. This workshop teaches practical budgeting and money management strategies. Williams said this educational component helps ensure that families can better navigate financial challenges in the future.
“Our workshops give people the tools to manage credit, save for emergencies, and plan for future goals,” Williams said. “We’re not just helping families get through a tough month — we’re helping them build a foundation for long-term success.”
Applications are now open for the program’s second cohort. The new cohort builds on the success of the first round that assisted several local residents earlier this year.

“The community response to the first cohort was incredible,” Williams said. “We’re excited to see even more families benefit this time around.”
