U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today issued the following statement after learning that the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) of Greater Chicago voted to support the disinfection of wastewater before it enters portions of the Chicago and Calumet Rivers.
“Chicago is a world-class city with an ambitious environmental agenda. But while Chicago is listed among the nation’s greenest cities, the City’s record when it comes to the Chicago River is disappointing.
