WASHINGTON–(ENEWSPF)–January 30, 2014. As part of the Energy Departmentâs efforts to develop efficiency standards that cut carbon pollution and save money by saving energy, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz today announced that the Department has finalized new energy efficiency standards for metal halide lamp fixtures, which are used in lighting for big box stores and parking lots. Over 30 years, these standards will help reduce harmful carbon pollution by up to 28 million metric tons â equivalent to the annual electricity use of 3.9 million homes â and save consumers more than $1.1 billion on their energy bills. These standards support President Obamaâs call to cut energy waste, save families money on their utilities bills and help reduce pollution, as outlined in the State of the Union address this week.
