Honshu, Japan-(ENEWSPF)- Striking on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 05:36:32 UTC, 12:36:32 AM (CDT) – Central Daylight (Chicago), a 6.5 magnitude earthquake ° off the coast of Honshu, Japan.

Located at 37.673°N, 141.716°E and a rather shallow depth of 43.6 km (27.1 miles), the epicenter was 99 km (61 miles) SE of Sendai, Honshu, Japan; 103 km (64 miles) NE of Iwaki, Honshu, Japan; 113 km (70 miles) E of Fukushima, Honshu, Japan; and 283 km (175 miles) NE of TOKYO, Japan.

No tsunami watch, warning or advisory is in effect relative to this event. There were reports of moderate to light shaking on land.
