Sierra Club Announces Big Changes to 2013 Best Internship on Earth

For the first time, two passionate young adults to choose their own summer adventure

SAN FRANCISCO–(ENEWSPF)–March 12, 2013. The Sierra Club is making it possible for two young adults to spend the summer enjoying, exploring, and protecting the planet.  From historic climate rallies and high-adrenaline outdoor adventures to student leadership gatherings and celebrity experiences in nature, two outdoor enthusiasts will get VIP access to go inside America’s most effective grassroots environmental organization.

The Best Internship on Earth is an exceptional summer program blending job experience in media production with adventure and activism.  For the first time, the Sierra Club will select two young adults (college students or recent graduates) for the Best Internship on Earth – one position for someone skilled in video production, one position for someone with an interest in being on-camera talent.  Both roles offer an incredible opportunity for adventure, travel and storytelling.

Previous itineraries have included such destinations and activities as surveying ancient artifacts on an archeological dig during a service trip in Utah, attending a family event sponsored by Military Families and Veterans Initiative, lobbying in Washington DC; backpacking in Southern California in the San Jacinto Mountains with Inner City Outings, marching in the Puerto Rican Day Parade; and outdoor leadership training with the Sierra Student Coalition.  The 2013 itinerary will in part be shaped by the Best Interns’ interests.

When not on the road, the Best Interns will work with Sierra Club’s communications team in San Francisco, CA, to review, cut and edit video clips, chronicle their journey in a blog and promote an appreciation of nature through outdoor education and adventure using available media resources.

The ideal candidate is passionate about the environment and being outside, open to new experiences, a skilled storyteller, experienced with video software and production, and highly engaged with their online community.  To apply, students and recent graduates over the age of 18 must submit a video clip (60-90 seconds) showcasing their love for the outdoors and why they want to intern with the Sierra Club.  In addition to a stipend and all-expenses paid travel, the winning interns will each receive $1,000 worth of merchandise provided by The North Face, a hallmark brand for outdoor gear, apparel and footwear.
