SPRINGFIELD, Ill–(ENEWSPF)–August 15, 2013. Today, the Sierra Club, Environmental Law and Policy Center, Respiratory Health Association and Natural Resources Defence Council filed objections to Dynegy’s request for a pollution variance before the Illinois Pollution Control Board (IPCB). The variance request was filed by Dynegy subsidiary, Illinois Power Holdings, and would give Dynegy five extra years to comply with Illinois’ Multi-Pollutant Standard, a state regulation enacted in 2006. Texas-based Dynegy announced plans this year to purchase Ameren’s five Illinois merchant coal-fired power plants for no cash. In June, the IPCB denied Ameren’s request to transfer their variance directly to Dynegy.
