US Senator Demands EPA Action on Bee-Killing Pesticides

MAINE–(ENEWSPF)–July 27, 2012.  As we reported earlier this week, the Environmental Protection Agency has decided to ignore the pleas of beekeepers and farmers and allow synthetic nicotine pesticides to stay on the market — despite overwhelming evidence that proves the materials are the primary catalyst in Colony Collapse Disorder in honeybees.

That’s not a good enough answer for Kirsten Gillibrand, the United States Senator from New York, a heavily agricultural state that depends on the bees. The Democrat is demanding that the EPA step up its formal review process of the nicotines from 2018 to 2013.

Here’s the story on the Senator’s website: http://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/newsroom/press/release/with-colony-collapse-disorder-threatening-ny-crops-gillibrand-calls-for-expedited-review-of-harmful-pesticides-to-protect-honey-bee-health
