Alaska Peninsula-(ENEWSPF)- The United States Geological Survey issued a report earlier this evening confirming a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck on Saturday, July 16, at 2:59:14 PM (CDT) – Central Daylight (Chicago), at a depth of 48.2 km (30.0 miles) beneath the earth’s surface on the Alaska Peninsula.
The epicenter was located 70 km (43 miles) SW of Sand Point, Alaska; 98 km (60 miles) ESE of Cold Bay, Alaska; 971 km (603 miles) SW of Anchorage, Alaska; and 1674 km (1040 miles) W of WHITEHORSE, Yukon Territory, Canada.
The event was reviewed by a seismologist, the USGS reports.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports that no tsunami warning, watch or advisory is in effect.
